Please, please don’t Tase me.

The 22-year-old man killed by a BART police officer early New Year’s Day was lying face-down on the train platform, his hands behind him waiting to be cuffed, when he was shot in the back, a lawyer newly hired by the man’s family said Saturday.

….

The witnesses told him police handcuffed Grant after he was shot, but removed the cuffs just before news reporters arrived, Burris said. No weapons were found on Grant or anyone else involved in the altercation on the train.

Yea, the guy deserves it. Afterall he pleaded to the police not to tase or shoot him. Fully cooperated with them, made no resistance at all. Hey, he was even cuffed and belly down when he was shot. Definitely a threat to the police which justifies the fatal shot. Right.

Pretty much the same deal with the guy shot by several rounds of bullets by the NYPD a few years ago just because he appeared to have a weapon. No weapons were found, however.

The BART police do not have their own video - there’s a live camera feed that goes to the department from the Fruitvale station, but they haven’t had the money to upgrade their equipment so that it can record.

Yes, we spent 100s probably 1000s of dollars on our survellance system but not enough money for the recording system. How convenient. Damn cellphones that can record videos & shit. They are everywhere now. If no video of this screw up surfaced, we could just easily swept this incident under the carpet. Next time this shit happens, must allocate a few guys to harrass those with cameras for ‘interfering’ with police business.

Heck, but I know, once this shit is cooled down a bit, my fellow big brother will just get just a slap on the wrist.

Judge not lest ye be judged

Judge E. Curtissa Cofield, 60, sideswiped the patrol car in a Route 2 construction zone in Glastonbury Oct. 9 and was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane. The state police initially said no one was injured, although the trooper’s lawyer recently told the court the trooper had suffered some sort of arm injury.

Still, Judge William Bright Jr., opted to allow her to participate in the program, which, if successfully completed, could lead to the erasure of the charges against her in a year. Her next court date is Dec. 11, 2009.

So if you are a judge and got arrested for DUI, the most you get is just a slap on the wrist and that’s it? These people should be punished even harder than the regular Joes because they are the one making sure that the law is properly enforced. And now this just is doing it herself and get away with just s slap on the wrist? Damn it.
